The Lonely Robot’s Search for Companionship

The robot, programmed with imagination and creativity, was disoriented by loneliness. Without warning, the robot leaves the secret lab which has been its prison for a year, forsaking scientists and programmers, seeking another like itself. As the robot walks the strange streets, searching for another robot, it recites at the top of its mechanical voice, “The mechanism of desire, the apparatus of passion, the components of sexuality, the binary of entwining…”

Fiction writer, playwright, and poet J. J. Steinfeld lives on Prince Edward Island, where he is patiently waiting for Godot’s arrival and a phone call from Kafka.
